for the kid in you...

...and me!!

i EEEE!-ed aloud when i came across these miniature playhouses!  [my roommate can attest to this.]

Hobbit Holes are a dream come true!  combining my love for all things miniature and gnome-like, these little hangout structures are colorful, whimsical, and truly fantastic!  great for little ones running around pretending to be elves and hobbits, but it would make a great backyard reading nook.

frozen in time

i am fascinated by the ability to capture something - whether it is an object [natural or not], a word, any sort of memory - and preserve it as-is forever.

my amber jewelry pieces were the most worn items in my jewelry box for a number of years - probably for that very reason!  i was attracted to nature's imperfections that were transformed into centerpieces of gorgeous design and wearable art.

as recently as a few weeks ago, i came across sylwia calus' shop, sisicata, which is full of the designer's beautiful poly-resin jewelry creations.  you will find pieces with nature captured flawlessly and also some with a modern, geometric flair.  i am especially fond of her moss pieces as well as her minerals [love that shine and irregularity!].

loving the lovelies

samantha walker is the artist behind the jewelry at proteales.  i dig the simplicity and uniformity.  of course each piece is unique and handmade, but the styles are so classic...the true beauty of the stones [and charms] are visible and not overpowering.  most pieces can be customized to your needs - your particular size and stone[s] of your choosing!

sweet and delicate.

'tis the season to be merry!

this holiday season i am thankful for my supportive and loving family [who i miss dearly], a new environment to enjoy and explore, friends from my past and present, creative outlets that keep me sane, delicious champagne for celebrating even the tiniest things, and probably most important of all, my health.

as a lover of nature, architecture, and animals [just a few more things that i appreciate in my daily life], i would like to share with you a beautiful artist that i just recently discovered.  irene suchocki is a photographer who is based in montreal, quebec, canada and is owner of the Etsy shop Eye Poetry Photography.  her subjects grab me, reel me in, and make my heart flutter with emotion.  with over 41,000 admirers on Etsy, i suppose i am not alone.

she also has calendars and jewelry available that feature her photography, as well as discounted rates for multiple print purchases.

below are just a few of my favorites, a mere glimpse into her fine work.  please enjoy!

she's got legs...

...and she knows how to use them!

my personal style = modern simplicity + splash of excitement

my "splash of excitement" comes through in my use of accessories:  a flashy pair of jelly shoes that smell like strawberries, an over-sized eyeball ring, or feathers flowing out from underneath my curls.  quiet and stunning.  as a dress and skirt fanatic [i wear them 5/7 days of the week], i generally add a bit of spice below-the-waist via shoes or leg-wear.

ladies, if you want to show of your legs, i would LOVE to introduce to you gal stern:  designer and creator of the most fabulous leg-wear that i have come across in ages.

gal produces high-quality screen printed cotton and nylon tights and leggings that are perfect for the woman who desires a sexy addition to complete her look.  from the free form, out-of-this-world designs to the electric pops of color, each design is made with care and love in her studio in israel.

while you're shopping handmade this holiday season, make sure to get a pair of gal stern's creations for each and every one of the hot mamas on your list.  their legs will thank you.

getting geological

for as long as i can remember, i have always had a weakness for fabulous handcrafted jewelry and fine gems.  [a champagne taste on a tap water budget, or so my dad says...]

there is just something fantastic about seeing carefully hand-wrapped jewels, delicately strung faceted beads, and a natural rainbow of colors - lovelovelove!  having a brother that is in the geology field has certainly helped me to appreciate not only the beauty of raw minerals and stones, but also their scientific and metaphysical characteristics.  [you should have been there when we visited the museum of natural history together!]  i await the day when he brings some of his field findings to me and i can create truly one-of-a-kind pieces for myself and others can enjoy.  <3

as of late, i have been creating semi-precious gemstone necklaces that can be layered, mixed, matched, and even wrapped to create bracelets.  please check out a few of my newest creations - made with love in the mountains of course!!  take advantage of my 10% sale going on too!
