modern vintage

as a member of the Etsy Veg Team [a group of vegetarian and vegan artists on Etsy], i am constantly browsing the Crafty Veggie Marketplace for new shops to drool over.  i am always happy to support someone who has similar interests and beliefs, especially when it comes down to the ethical treatment of animals.  ♡  many of the artisans on the team are environmentally-friendly and use organic and sustainable practices when creating their wares, food, beauty products, etc.

one of my new favorites, Seahag and Walrus, is a gorgeous shop full of one-of-a-kind jewelry created mainly from vintage and found items.  silver, brass, glass, faux grass?!, and fun charms light up my eyes - modern beauty at its finest.  i absolutely love the use of asymmetry and industrial elements as i am constantly on the hunt for something that will stand out amongst the everyday trends.  everything is affordable too - nothing over $50!  now that's my kind of shopping.

below are a few of my favorite items from the shop [yeah, yeah, i couldn't pick just ONE find], check them out and show your love!

Lush Green Grass Earring Posts - $14

Guitar Ends Necklace - $24

3D Waffle Triangle and Chain Earrings - $26

Sea Treasure -- Hollow Glass Orb and Chain Netting Necklace - $38

hello world!

having been an artist/crafter for all of my life and a seller on Etsy.com for the past few years, i always find myself promoting anything handmade, whether it's a dress, jewelry, a fantastic piece of artwork, or delicious homemade cookies.  these items are not only made with care and passion, but they are made with integrity.  someone actually chose to create - they were not being forced to do so for a less-than-liveable wage in horrid conditions.

as some of you may know, i have been posting a "handmade find of the day" for quite some time on Facebook.  i have received a truly overwhelming response of positivity from all sorts of people, which makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.  really, it does!  it's such a wonderful feeling when friends from all walks of life come up to me [at the bar, at a party, at the store, at a concert, at a restaurant] and mention that they enjoy learning about new products and creations, especially since they are made by human hands and can't find them in most stores.  and if they mention a specific post - WOW - i'm always flabbergasted!  :o)

but that was exactly my goal:  to expose friends to non-commercial items that spark creativity and are made with love by people all over the world.

why not let others in on my handmade obsession?

from now on, i'll be posting my handmade finds HERE [as well as other randomness on occasion], but also linking them to my Facebook page per usual.  if something happens to brighten your day or causes an impulse purchase, share it with friends that also may have an interest or post a comment to let me know that you are enjoying what you find.

i adore self-promotion [hey, we all need to do it once in a while], so if you or someone you know have an Etsy shop or just create things in your spare time and have photos, please send them to me!  i would love to share!  :o)

to start off the next chapter of handmade finds, i'm sharing one of my own creations from my eco-conscious shop ravissant

ON SALE - galadriel - extra long green gown - medium to large - $150

this dress, which i named "galadriel" after the loveliest lady of lothlórien, is one of my absolute favorite creations to date.  not only is it my favorite color [green], but it is extra long and sexy with lots of movement and features hand-dyed and eco-friendly up-cycled fabrics.  it's both simple and eye-catching....perfect for an elegant, sizzling summer evening!  dress it up with barely-there jewelry and you're ready to go!
