getting geological

for as long as i can remember, i have always had a weakness for fabulous handcrafted jewelry and fine gems.  [a champagne taste on a tap water budget, or so my dad says...]

there is just something fantastic about seeing carefully hand-wrapped jewels, delicately strung faceted beads, and a natural rainbow of colors - lovelovelove!  having a brother that is in the geology field has certainly helped me to appreciate not only the beauty of raw minerals and stones, but also their scientific and metaphysical characteristics.  [you should have been there when we visited the museum of natural history together!]  i await the day when he brings some of his field findings to me and i can create truly one-of-a-kind pieces for myself and others can enjoy.  <3

as of late, i have been creating semi-precious gemstone necklaces that can be layered, mixed, matched, and even wrapped to create bracelets.  please check out a few of my newest creations - made with love in the mountains of course!!  take advantage of my 10% sale going on too!

of the forest - jade, aquamarine, green opal, and agate slice necklace - 27.5 inches - $67

...and by history, i mean fabulous fashions of the past century.

i have just come across the most EXQUISITE collection of vintage dresses!

Timeless Vixen Vintage's selection of garments from the late nineteenth century to the 1970s is like none i have seen before.  the entire shop is full of hand-selected designer and one-of-a-kind pieces that are sure to catch the attention of many - fashionista or not.

take a look at a few of my faves and trust me when i say that it was extremely difficult to choose just these four.  soak in the glam and be right on trend with fall '11 and spring '12 fashion.  [the 50s and 60s are back baby!]

easy growing

i realized that it has been a month since i have posted - eek!

welp, it's officially autumn and everything is dying, so why not feature some bright green growing life?!  i came across Doodle Bird Imaginariums quite a while ago and fell in love with the mini terrariums, wearable viridiplantae, and terrarium decor.

don't have a green thumb?  that's ok!  terrariums are simple to care for because they reuse their own moisture and do not require much attention.  and these beauties are super affordable!  so that means they would make great unique gifts for a funky, nature-loving person in your life.

check out my select favorites below and relish in the beauty and simplicity of life.  <3
